Have the following information ready when calling roadside assistance:

  • SAL Protection Plan Policy/Contract #
  • Vehicle’s Identification Number (VIN)
  • Plan Letter and Producer Code
  • Selling dealership’s name


A pre-existing condition is listed as one of the exclusions on most group creditor insurance certificates. If a claim is submitted and it is determined that the claim was caused or contributed to by a pre-existing condition or was as a direct or indirect result of treatment for a pre-existing condition, no insurance benefit would be payable.

In general, a Pre-existing Condition means any condition for which you have consulted a doctor, received treatment, taken medicine, or generally had symptoms within the 6 month period before you purchase insurance. However, if you are symptom and treatment free for the 6 months following your purchase, and have not consulted a doctor, your condition will not be considered Pre-existing (Note: The actual periods may vary from 6 to 24 months depending upon the terms of Certificate). For extended warranty products: Return to your selling dealership for repairs whenever possible. Their staff is familiar with the required procedures and depending on your contract/policy, your deductible may be reduced. If it is not possible to return to your dealer, take your vehicle to a licensed repair facility. Inform the service provider that you have a SAL Protection Plan contract/policy when you drop your vehicle off.

Provide the repair facility with a copy of your SAL Protection Plan contract/policy. The repair diagnosis must be authorized by the vehicle owner and will be reimbursed by us if the repair is eligible under your contract/policy.

Instruct the repair facility to contact the Claims Administrator (1-888-444-0301) to obtain an authorization number for the eligible repairs. After the Claims Administrator has been contacted, review with the service department what will be eligible under your contract/policy.

For creditor group insurance products: Call the Claims Administrator at 1-800-549-7227 to report the claim and confirm eligibility.
